Request/problem:
Manufacturers of Industrial Control Systems using CODESYS require an OPC UA stack that provides the full-scope of functionality, as specified by the OPC Foundation. Matrikon is an expert in OPC communication and markets the Flex OPC UA SDK, which is a stack providing all facets from the UA specifications (DA, HA, events, A&C, security, reverse connect, etc…), runs as server and client and supports all profiles (nano, micro, embedded, standard).
The request is to integrate this stack in CODESYS to facilitate its use for the manufacturer and the application engineer.
Solution:
We decided, together with Matrikon, to link the stack, as server in a first implementation, with the CODESYS Control runtime system and develop a new editor for CODESYS, using CODESYS Automation Platform.

The integration of both technologies is now available as product: Matrikon Flex OPC UA for CODESYS, comprising the following pieces of software:
- Matrikon Flex SDK
- CmpMatrikonOPCUAServer (CODESYS runtime system component)
- Matrikon Flex OPC UA editor
